Redefine Cloud Nine

It seems that our family is always in need of redefining. I guess that is just how life works. Every once in a while we need to refocus, make new goals and find better ways to approach life. I thought we were done with that for a while. I feel like I just made my New Year's Resolutions. I have been carefully and methodically checking them off, or updating the progress of them. (I like having a list to check off and then be done with.)

But Todd always likes to keep us on our toes, so he has decided to take a sabbatical from Skadden for the year. Yes, you read it right. A whole year off. Todd, the man with the never ending work schedule who can't even relax on a cruise who would rather get paid out at the end of the year for vacation days that to use them...is taking an entire year off.

Most of my friends are in absolute disbelief that he is doing this. I am a little myself. You can't train a wife to do without you for 12 years and then just show up...all the time! All joking aside, it will be great to have more time together as a family. What a blessing.

What does a high-powered corporate attorney do on his first day of sabbatical? He went straight to the fridge and merged an Oscar Meyer cheese dog and a Bagelful to create a delicious snack.  It may just rival the Tubelcain Dog! (Okay, nothing rivals the Tubelcain.)  If you can think of a better hot dog recipe, let us know.

Sabbatical has been great so far. In fact we are geting ready to begin an incredible road trip that will last for about a month and a half. (I know. Todd wanting to go on a road trip is a whole new box of wonderment.) So follow along with us while we redefine our cloud nine. I am sure it will be an interesting road trip...and year.
