Point Reyes National Seashore: Point Reyes, CA

On our way to Point Reyes, we stopped at the Marin French Cheese Company, also known as The Cheese Factory. Mmmmm. Yummy cheese. They had all kinds of things for a lovely picnic.

When we arrived at Point Reyes National Seashore, we started off at the Bear Valley Visitors Station to get a map and Junior Ranger booklets.
We heard the Sea Lions barking and watched them at the look-out for a while.

We drove out to the lighthouse area. It is quite a drive. You park and then hike up past these cool, contorted Bishop Pines. Then you head down a steep and long stairway until you arrive at the lighthouse.

We were able to go into the lens room and view the inner workings of the lighthouse with a ranger.
Back up the stairs.
Max was running around yelling, "I'm a Peregrin Falcon! I'm the fastest animal on earth!"

Next we went back to the Visitors Center to do the Kule Loklo trail. We saw some Coast Miwok structures and completed the Junior Ranger booklets.

Know Before You Go: Point Reyes National Seashore is really large and there is a lot of driving involved, depending on where you want to go. There are different beach areas that we did not go to, but will next time. Look online at their NPS website to get an idea of what you want to do before you head out for the day. That way you can plan your day and what you need to bring more effectively.
