Little Red School House: Orick, CA

We drove by this place a few times on our drives around the  Redwood National and and State Park.  The advertise award winning Blackbery Pie, which was good, but not as good as my mom's.  They also have a large Roosevelt Elk herd, which we did not spot that day.  We did see a few off to the side of the road though.

The Stone Lagoon One Room School House was built in 1894 and was used well into the 20th-century before it was moved to it's present location and converted into a local museum.

Know Before You Go:  When we were here, things were pretty quiet.  The museum was not open and there were no Elk around.  We saw a lot of activity going on earlier in the week.  Horse and wagon rides and other things.  If you come at the right time, this could be a fun stop.  It is an RV Park, so you could stay here for a while if you drive one of those.
